Description: The Department of Fashion and Textiles in collaboration with dept. of Home Science organized an engaging and informative workshop on “Grooming and Modelling” on 29 September 2025, aimed at enhancing students’ confidence, presentation skills, and understanding of the professional modelling world. The event was structured into two insightful sessions that focused on practical learning and industry exposure.
The first session was the Modelling Workshop, conducted by Ms. Aura Virmani, a well-known model and pageant titleholder. She has earned several prestigious crowns including Miss Orient Tourism Global India 2026, Miss Unity World – Air 2024, Miss Unity Asia 2024, and Miss Rajasthan 2024 (Top 14 & Best Personality). Through her extensive experience in the fashion and pageant industry, Ms. Virmani guided students the fundamentals aspects of modelling such as body posture, stage presence, ramp walk techniques, facial expressions, confidence-building, and grooming etiquette.
Her session emphasized the importance of body language, poise, and self-presentation, essential elements for aspiring models and fashion professionals. Through live demonstrations and interactive discussions, students had the opportunity to practice modelling techniques, receive personalized feedback, and gain insights.
Ms. Virmani also shared her personal journey, challenges, and achievements, inspiring students to pursue their passions with dedication and self-confidence. The session was highly engaging, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, and motivated students for future opportunities in fashion shows and professional modelling platforms.
The second session featured a Makeup and Hairstyling Workshop conducted by Ms. Sukanksha Gupta, a well-known entrepreneur and professional makeup artist. During the session, Ms. Gupta provided a detailed, step-by-step demonstration of natural and professional makeup techniques, covering essential aspects such as base preparation, contouring, eye makeup, and lip enhancement. She also showcased quick and effortless hairstyling methods suitable for both stage performances and everyday looks.
In addition to the technical demonstrations, Ms. Gupta shared valuable grooming and self-presentation tips, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a refined and confident appearance in academic, professional, and events. Her session was highly interactive and practical, allowing students to participate actively, practice the demonstrated techniques, and gain firsthand experience in makeup application and hairstyling.
Both sessions effectively blended hands-on learning with motivational insights, offering students a comprehensive understanding of modelling, makeup, and hairstyling key elements that contribute to personality enhancement and confidence-building.
Outcome of the Activity: The “Grooming and Modelling” workshop provided insightful and inspiring experience for all participants. It provided awareness of personal grooming, stage presence, and self-confidence, while motivating them to strive for excellence in their chosen fields. The sessions conducted by Ms. Aura Virmani and Ms. Sukanksha Gupta made a profound impression, combining professional expertise with personal growth, and encouraging students to embrace self-expression and confidence in both academic and professional settings.
