Summary/Description:

Department of Fashion & Textiles, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur conducted an international webinar on “Color Changing materials for Fashion and other Applications” by Dr. Aravin Prince, Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems, Aalto University, Finland on 02.09.21 on virtual platform. Dr. Aravin Prince, began his lecture with an introduction about colours. He emphasized on today’s technology used in colour change in Fashion and Textiles material. He explained that each dyes have different molecular structure and a unique absorption spectrum.

In his lecture he explained all the processes that were involved in colour change and uses of photochromic technology for colour change in fashion and textile material.

He further emphasized on photos-mechanism, physics of colour, classification of chromic phenomena, photochromic materials and types of dyes used in colour change and others. He also focussed on how photochromic fibres can be mixed with undyed fibers to produce coloured nonwoven by the melt blown techniques.

The lecture was concluded by pointing out the difference between Knowledge and Information. It was an interactive lecture and all the students enjoyed it while learning the concept with detailed knowledge of information.

Outcome of the Guest lecture
