An Extension activity of one day was organized by the Department of Fashion and Textiles at Haziawala School, Sanganer, Jaipur  on 25 February, 2019. The coordinator of the activity was Dr. Sunetra. She along with a group of six students of M.Sc./ M.Com/ M.A Fashion Design Semester II & B.Sc. Fashion Design Semester IV took an initiative and imparted skills to a group of approx. 50 students of  IIIrd , IVth and Vth Class. The students were made to do activity on recycling products.

They were taught to prepare different types of photo frames and mats. They were also taught to prepre pom pom and origami flowers from the waste of garments and fabrics.

 

The main objective behind this activity was to make the rural children’s aware about the various techniques used to decorate the waste garments or fabrics to increase their market value..

 

The students were divided into three groups and gave the demonstration for tassels, pom-pom of origami flowers etc. The students showed immense interest and discussed about they will like to take this art further in other products. The old denim rags were converted into a beautiful table mats and photo frames. The activity was concluded by making those students understand the importance of best out of waste for sustainability and also how they can contribute their share.
