Report on an Industrial Visit to Poonam Textiles

An industrial visit to Poonam Textiles located at Sanganer, Jaipur was organized for the students of Garment Production and Export Management. Mr. Sandeep Chippa, Manager at Poonam Textiles briefed the students about the process followed in their Export House. He explained how the company has updated itself according to the current market and technology. Major markets served by company are domestic.

The export house specializes in women wear. They manufacture Kurties, Plazo, and Anarkali suits. Value additions were also demonstrated on Embroidery Work. Printing process & dying process was also showcased to students.

Students got the opportunity to learn the designing process from concept to a final product. They also learnt the different processes which are required to convert a design into garment. Students gained knowledge about different types of fabrics, they also covered grey fabric dying process to pattern making, cutting & stitching, finishing and Packaging.

The visit was aimed at the students getting knowledge about the garment construction and various processes involved to convert a design into a wearable product. The students found the visit to be highly informative and useful. 14 students took part in this visit which proved to be very fruitful in terms of exploration in textiles.
