Activity: Liquid Embroidery & Shibori

Venue:   Clothing Lab

Date: 11th & 12th October 2018

 

Department of Fashion and Textiles conducted a two day workshop, exclusively for the students of COSD Fashion Designing on 11th & 12th October 2018 in Clothing Lab from 09:30 am to 10:30 am.

The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Raj Dholiwal, a fashion artist from “Pidilite Fevicryl Colours”, Jaipur. This workshop was planned with an aim to develop and enhance skills towards free hand printing without using original printing technique & embroidery without using thread.

Students were asked to bring the following material:-

  • White hanky/ white dupatta/  white t-shirt/  white cushion or white  fabric
  • 3D outline colours
  • Fabric colours (Any three)
  • Rubber band
  • Scissors, rough cloth, brushes, carbon paper yellow, news papers
  • Basic stationary material

Ms. Raj Dholiwal demonstrated free hand Shibori printing & Embroidery technique using Pidilite Fevicryl Colours. She explained the students about the process of shibori printing on the fabric as well as the process of liquid embroidery. She used 3D colours to give the effect of embroidery. Such colors can be used on T-shirts, Scarf and Kurtas.

The students keenly participated in the workshop. This workshop was very fruitful for the students as it helped them to create their own designs with innovative style. Approximately sixty students participated in the workshop.
