Objective of the workshop: 

  • To provide hands-on training in contemporary and traditional textile surface techniques.

  • To introduce students to brush painting and mediums like Mouldit.

  • To develop creativity in fabric ornamentation and accessory design.

  • To encourage experimentation and individual artistic expression through craft.

Summary/Description:

The Department of Fashion & Textiles organized a vibrant and skill-enriching three-day workshop on “Textile Brush Stroke” for the students of B.Sc Fashion Design Semesters I, III, and V. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Raj Dholiwal, Senior Artist and Craft Instructor from Pidilite Industries, Jaipur

Day 1: Texture Impression

The workshop began with an introduction to texture creation and impression techniques using fabric paints and tools. Ms. Raj Dholiwal demonstrated how textures can be developed on textiles using a variety of objects and methods. Students experimented with different brush techniques to create different textured effects. Tote bags, Pouches and Mobile Covers were created by tracing the designs and rendering colours on it.

Day 2: Accessory Fusion (Using Mouldit)

Day 2 focused on Accessory making using Mouldit, a popular air-dry clay-like material by Pidilite. The session encouraged students to fuse designs with craft by creating various kinds of accessories. Ms. Dholiwal demonstrated shaping and finishing techniques using Mouldit technique. Students created unique accessories such as pendants, earrings, brooches, and keychains. Designs were later painted and embellished using fabric colours and other decorative materials.

Day 3: Button Art 

On the final day, students explored art of button making using Mouldit technique. The students crafted buttons of various shapes, textures, and motifs for the application on garments. The process included sculpting, texturing, and painting the buttons. Beautiful buttons in different colours and shape gave appealing effect for the end users.

Outcome of the workshop:

The three day workshop proved beneficial for the students as they learnt the rendering of colours on different products. They gained practical exposure to surface ornamentation and accessory crafting. They developed hands-on skills in using Mouldit for fashion accessories and lastly they mould the clay on creative buttons. The workshop boosted creativity, problem-solving and design thinking. The engaging and interactive teaching by Ms. Raj Dholiwal was highly appreciated.
