 ‘ANOKHI MUSEUM’

The Department of Fashion and Textile Technology organized a visit to ‘ANOKHI MUSEUM’ (Hand Block Printed Textiles), Jaipur on 21st February 2017. The Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing is a unique destination tucked away in historical Amer town amongst crumbling havelis & temples. Possibly the only museum in the world wholly dedicated to the preservation & dissemination of hand printed textiles. Mr. Jitendra Chaturvedi  briefed the students about the different types of printing done by the printers like Block printing of Sanganer and Bagru. He also helped the students in differentiating between the Sanganer and Bagru prints.

He explained the process of block printing by using Pigment Dyes and also explained the students how to keep the blocks with proper care in Block Printing. He explained the process that how to make the blocks of Block printing, students were given exposure to the preparation of wooden hand blocks, which the artisans were preparing for their future work.

Students explored the variety of different printed materials that were showcased in the museum. This visit was very fruitful for the students as it enhanced their knowledge on block printing.
