Objective of the FDP: To impart knowledge related to Fashion Design software.
Description:
Department of Fashion & Textiles had organized a Faculty Development Programme for all the faculties of the department from 4th to 8th April, 2022. The topic of the FDP was “Designing and Pattern making software”. The FDP was held for five days. Everyday demonstration on designing software shared with this faculty.
Day 1 & 2: Resource person Ms Sudha Jain freelance Designer Jaipur took the session on Corel Draw. All the tools and interface of software were discussed in details. The process of developing various prints and layouts according to the industry was demonstrated by the resource persons. Faculty members were instructed to create print using the software during FDP. In the end all the doubts were answered by her.
On second day, Ms Sudha Jain, demonstrated working process on Adobe Photoshop. She made all the faculty members familier with the interface and various tools for performing exercises according to the industry were demonstrated. Different techniques of editing with grids and rulers were demonstrated on Photoshop software. Repeats such as allover & drop were given as activity to the attendees for better understanding about tools and techniques.
Day 3: Demonstration of Adobe Illustration was given by Mr. Tajindera freelance designer. He shared the information related to pixel, colour quality and image size with reference related to editing.Tools were explained by Mr. Tajindera through activity based learning. He explained the process of creating symbols, motifs and pattern according to the fashion industry. Adaptation of existing motif was also covered as important part of the session. In the end, doubts were answered by resource persons.
Day 4: The session was conducted by Dr. Isha Bhatt, Associate Professor at Banasthali Vidyapith University. She explained various step of the working process on Arahne software. Various weaves with reference to fabrics were demonstrated. Arahne drape software was also demonstrated in which real-time 3-D dimensional view was created for designed fabric.
Day 5: The resource person for the day 5 was Mr Amit Sharma, Pattern Engineer and Freelance Pattern Maker. He demonstrated Optitex software. This software is mold in apparel working process of creating, altering and manipulating pattern for that garment. Grading on the software was also demonstrated.
Outcome of the activity:
The FDP was helpful in enhancing expertise of the attendees in domain of computer aided designing. Through this faculty members were able to update their knowledge with reference to designing and pattern making software.
