Objective: 
  1. To introduces various techniques in embroidery, machine sewing, creative fabric textures and yarn craft.
  2. To imparts  skill to manipulate the basic techniques for extra ordinary applications to enhance the fabric surface
  3. To develop Creative Samples to work as a Surface Designer in Fashion Industry
Unit I: 
COURSE CONTENT
  • Embroidery                                                                                           10 hrs

     Hand and machine to form different natural and geometric forms such as border stitches, outline stitches, filling stitches, etc.

  • Machine Sewing Techniques                                                           10 hrs

     Developing machine techniques like Gathering, Shirring, ruffles, flounces, godtes pleating, tucking, cording, appliqué, patch work, quilting, etc.

  • Fabric Textures                                                                                  10 hrs

     Developing self fabric textures using techniques such as drawn thread work, counted thread work, etc.

  • Yarn Craft                                                                                             10 hrs

     Developing various techniques using variety of yarns such as macramé, crochet, etc.

  • Product Development                                                                       10 hrs

Students to incorporate all the techniques learnt above and design and develop articles using creative forms, shapes and designs etc. Document Embroidery layout and designs to create any two of the following –

  1. Accessory
  2. Lifestyle Product
  3. Corporate Stationary
  • Students are expected to prepare creative samples on various Fabrics that can be used later to create garments out of it.                                                                                                          10 hrs
