Preparation of Cotton Fabric:
- Singeing: Objective, types of singeing, details of various singeing methods, drawbacks and advantages.
- Desizing: Objective, types, method, details and mechanism of removal of starch in various methods. Efficiency of desizing.

- Scouring: Objectives, mechanism of removal of impurities.
- Bleaching: Objectives of bleaching.
- Types of bleaches: Hypochlorite, peroxide, chlorite and their effectiveness on various textiles.

- Mercerization: Objectives, mechanism related to various physical and chemical changes in cotton during mercerization.
- Mercerization by Alkali treatment processes.
