      Preparation of Cotton Fabric:

                                                                             

  • Singeing: Objective, types of singeing, details of various singeing methods, drawbacks and advantages.
  • Desizing: Objective, types, method, details and mechanism of removal of starch in various methods. Efficiency of desizing.

  • Scouring: Objectives, mechanism of removal of impurities.
  • Bleaching: Objectives of bleaching.
  • Types of bleaches:  Hypochlorite, peroxide, chlorite and their effectiveness on various textiles.

  • Mercerization: Objectives, mechanism related to various physical and chemical changes in cotton during mercerization.
  • Mercerization by Alkali treatment processes.
