Description:
The Department of Fashion & Textiles organized a guest lecture on the topic " Art of Writing Literature Review in Research" on December 24, 2024, in room A501. The session was conducted by Dr. Sankul Sethia, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology. The lecture aimed to provide participants with insights and best practices for crafting strong literature reviews in academic research.

Dr. Sethia elaborated on the characteristics and purpose of a literature review, emphasizing its role in establishing the foundation for research and identifying gaps in existing knowledge. Key highlights of the session included:

1. Steps in Writing a Literature Review:

   • Defining the research problem or topic

   • Using focused research questions or hypotheses.

   • Conducting extensive searches for relevant literature using academic databases like Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and JSTOR.

2. Search Techniques:

   • Employing Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) and keywords/synonyms to refine searches.

3. Tools to Enhance the Review Process:

   • Reference management tools like Mendeley and Zotero were recommended to organize citations and streamline the review process.

4. Checklist for a Strong Literature Review:

   • Ensuring clarity, coherence, and critical analysis.

   • Avoiding plagiarism and maintaining academic integrity.

The interactive session encouraged participants to ask questions and share challenges they face in literature review writing. Dr. Sethia’s systematic approach and practical tips made the session highly engaging and informative.
