Objective: 
  1. To enable the students to obtain perfect fit and harmony between the fabric & design of the garment

 

Unit I: 
Course Content:

Fabric characteristics and terms                                                                                         5 hrs

  • Model form: Preparation, measurements and tools
  • Draping principles and techniques

 

Basic Dress form                                                                                                               10 hrs

  • Preparation of fabric for draping, seam allowances, marking and tracing, making basic front and back, bodice block by draping on dress form.
  • Asymmetrical darts
  • Bodice styles: Classic princess drape, armhole princess line, panel bodice, halter style line, off shoulder, cowl, wrap front bodice.

 

Sleeve block adaptation- puff, flared, bell, dolman, raglan                                              10 hrs

 

Draping for Collars-Peter Pan, Shawl, Band                                                                   10 hrs

 

Skirt & its adaptation:                                                                                                     15 hrs

  • A-Line
  • Flared
  • Panel
  • Stylized yoke with flare, gathers & pleats

 

Constructing new styles in following garment by draping methods-                         10 hrs

  • Skirts
  • Top
  • One piece dress
