She shared her knowledge and expertise with the participants on online, Zoom platform. The lecture was about how students grab the opportunity to become an entrepreneur or the next potential employee and excel in the field of fashion.
She explained that fashion portfolio is the collection of design is best work; be it samples, illustrations, fabric swatches, creative work or the personal experiences as a designer. It should be visually attractive and should be the representation of who you are and what you can achieve! It helps in presenting the evidence of your relevant skills and abilities.
Further, she told us about the process of creating a product line and how important it is to create perfect inspiration board, mood board, colour board, and the swatch board. So the first stepping stone for creating a product line was to start the research work with the help of primary and secondary markets. She further added that primary market research refers to the unique and authentic data that is gathered from the first-hand sources, and is the best way of taking a big step towards the goal of creating your own product line.
She emphasized that inspiration board play a vital role in the design process both in defining the context for new designs and in informing the creation of individual designs.
Next comes the mood board. Mood boards also require a lot of research work which can be done through secondary market research i.e. through magazines, newspapers, art galleries doing visual art, museums etc. It proves to be really helpful for the designer to stay on track while building a collection . It's essential to put precise pictures, Swatchs and text on the mood board.
