Report on “Fashion styling “SARTORIAL SPLENDOR”
Date: 14th Feb 2018
Activity: Fashion styling “SARTORIAL SPLENDOR”
Venue: Clothing lab
The Department of Fashion and Textiles organized a guest activity on Fashion Styling “Sartorial Splendor” conducted by Ms Swati Malik, entrepreneur for the students of the department of fashion & textiles.
Ms. Swati Malik started her presentation with new styles of draping the traditional Indian Attire, The Sari. She demonstrated drapes where the sari could be draped in a new version to give a indo western look when coupled with other garments like long skirts, trousers crop tops with the help of simple materials like laces, stoles and few safety pins.
She demonstrated these drapes on the students so as to they could later drape new designs themselves to create a complete new look. The students were then asked to be divided into groups and drape two saris designs inspired from traditional drapes but made modern for a party evening.
The students stylized the look with accessories and makeup to give a complete look that would complement their creation. Ms Swati Malik helped students during the process to be able to create the designs and even few tips to make their designs flattering to wear.
